$ZAMA is now live on Solana via Sunrise, so Solana users can trade it across the ecosystem, with liquidity wherever they already trade.
Today, we're expanding access to $ZAMA on Solana. Next, we want to bring FHE-powered confidentiality to Solana itself.
Solana made onchain finance fast. Transactions settle in under a second, fees are fractions of a cent, and onchain markets now run at a scale that looked impossible a few years ago.
But like every other major blockchain, Solana is public. Every balance, every swap and every wallet's full history can be read by anyone, forever. On a chain this fast and this active, that openness has real costs:
Transparency is what lets anyone verify a blockchain. But verifying transactions shouldn't require exposing everyone's financial information.
Zama, the fastest growing confidentiality protocol for onchain finance, builds confidentiality infrastructure for blockchains using Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE). FHE is a type of cryptography that lets computers process data while it stays encrypted.
In practice, this means a smart contract can check that you have enough balance, execute a transfer and update an app's state without ever seeing the actual numbers. Only you, and whoever you choose to share with, can decrypt your data. The chain stays verifiable and composable, and your information stays confidential.
FHE was first proposed in 1978 and remained theoretical for more than 30 years. Craig Gentry published the first working construction in 2009, but it was far too slow to be useful. Zama was founded in 2020 by Rand Hindi and Pascal Paillier, one of the pioneers of FHE research, to make it practical. Today, Zama has one of the largest teams of FHE cryptographers in the world, and became the first FHE unicorn after its $57M Series B in 2025.
In the early days of the internet, most traffic was sent in plaintext. HTTPS changed that. Encryption became the default, and most people never had to think about it again.
The Zama Protocol aims to do the same for blockchains: confidentiality by default, built into the infrastructure, without users or developers having to change how they work.
Today's listing brings $ZAMA natively to the Solana community. It also signals where we're heading.
The Zama Protocol launched on Ethereum, and Solana has long been part of our roadmap. Bringing FHE-based confidentiality to Solana means that, in the future, Solana developers could build:
Solana brought speed to onchain finance. Zama wants to add confidentiality. And we're just getting started.
$ZAMA is the native utility token of the Zama Protocol:
Through Sunrise, $ZAMA is available on Solana as a single canonical token that can be traded natively across the ecosystem.
